RMHC Malaysia Hosts Grand Chinese New Year Celebration with Underprivileged Children
KUALA LUMPUR, 10 FEBRUARY 2025 – This year, Ronald McDonald House Charities Malaysia (RMHC Malaysia) took its Chinese New Year celebrations to the next level, hosting a large-scale event that brought festive cheer to 50 underprivileged children, including those from two orphanage homes – Yayasan Sunbeams Home and Pusat Jagaan Rumah Charis – creating a meaningful and joyous gathering at McDonald’s Pantai Sentral Park.
Over the years, RMHC Malaysia has celebrated festive occasions, including Chinese New Year, with beneficiaries at Ronald McDonald Houses across the country. This year’s expanded celebration was made possible through a meaningful collaboration with Lions Clubs International, alongside McDonald’s Malaysia – RMHC Malaysia’s largest corporate partner.
Attendees were treated to a vibrant traditional lion dance performance and heartwarming showcases by the children, adding a cultural touch to the festive occasion. The children also took part in fun games and activities, including a prosperous tossing of McDonald’s Prosperity Lou-Lou curly fries. The event underscored RMHC Malaysia’s ongoing commitment to supporting the wellbeing of underprivileged children across the nation.
In line with this mission, RMHC Malaysia also made impactful contributions to uplift the lives of the children by distributing Back to School Packs – which is equipped with school essentials such as uniforms, shoes and stationeries – to inspire confidence as they prepare for the new academic year.
Nasri Nordin, General Manager of RMHC Malaysia, shared his aspirations for this initiative: “This Chinese New Year celebration reflects RMHC Malaysia’s commitment to expanding our efforts to serve underprivileged children across Malaysia. Through meaningful collaborations with partners like Lions Clubs International and McDonald’s Malaysia, we hope to bring joy and create lasting impacts in the lives of these children. Together, we can make a difference in their journey towards a brighter future.”
This Chinese New Year celebration is part of RMHC Malaysia’s broader mission to uplift underprivileged communities through impactful initiatives. The organisation looks forward to continuing its efforts to create more moments of joy and support for children in need.
