Kelly Chan’s journey with McDonald’s Malaysia began in 1987 as a part-time crew member. Her dedication and passion quickly propelled her into leadership roles within operations. After excelling as both a Restaurant Manager and Operations Consultant, Kelly’s contributions led to further opportunities within the company.
Kelly's versatility saw her transition to the Marketing Department, where she eventually rose to the position of Senior Marketing Manager. During this time, she also served as a member of the McDonald’s Asia Youth Marketing Committee, representing Southeast Asia. Her exceptional achievements in marketing earned her McDonald’s prestigious President’s Award in 2006, which recognizes the top 1% of global employees for their contributions to the company.
In 2013, Kelly took on a new challenge as Director of Menu Management. In this role, she led the development of innovative menu strategies that resulted in the successful launch of new products, significantly driving business growth and market share.
Four years later, Kelly expanded her responsibilities, taking on the role of Senior Director and Chief Supply Chain Officer. In this capacity, she oversees the strategic and resilient supply chain that supports McDonald’s Malaysia’s growth. Her responsibilities include building supply chain resiliency, strengthening contingency plans, optimizing margins, and driving sustainability efforts. Kelly has also championed local sourcing initiatives, boosting the use of local suppliers and production, while ensuring high standards of Halal compliance, food safety, and product quality.
Under her leadership, McDonald’s Malaysia has successfully navigated global challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Global Ocean Freight Crisis, ensuring the continuity of supply. Kelly’s emphasis on cost efficiency, supplier transparency, and profitability has been pivotal in McDonald’s continued success in the region.
